Choosing the Right Name for our Coming Baby

Tiff is now full term, and our baby is expected to be delivered on 1 March 2007. But since this is Tiff's second pregnancy, at times the baby may choose to come out earlier.

So anytime now .... our second child will be born.

And as with every child that comes to this planet, the parents have an important and huge task of giving the correct name to their child.

So pray with us as we choose the right Chinese name for our child. A child always grows up to the name that's given to them. And its important that we choose a name that fits the character of our baby.

Thanks to Auntie Henritta for this Book. "What's In a Chinese Name". Especially for us who cant read and write Chinese, its really difficult to choose the right name.

Watch out for our baby's Chinese name once we have decided on it. :)

The Answer You have Been Waiting For : Its a ....

YES YES YES .......
it was based on the above Scan, that the Sonnographer
declared on that afternoon ... Its a Girl!
We had so many feedback from so many of you. Some of you were looking
at the other Scan (which had Four Parts) to determine the sex of the baby
... which by the way that was a Scan of the baby's Heart! :)
Praise God for the news. Pray with us for a healthy and safe delivery.
Baby's delivery is expected late February - early March 2007.

Inside the Womb at 25 Weeks
The baby now weighs nearly 1.5 pounds / 660 grams and is approximately 13.5 inches/ 35 centimetres long from crown to heel. She makes breathing movements but has no air in her lungs yet. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show response to touch. If you shine a light on the mother's abdomen, your baby will turn her head, which according to researchers, means her optic nerve is working.

Take A Guess? Is it a Boy or Girl?

Tiffany recently went for her detailed scan of the 24 weeks old baby. It was an Ultrasound scan using a 2D Siemens Scanner. Its something new (for me at least) that the scanning was done by a Sonnographer (Li Anne) and not the doctor.

We are pleased to report that the Detailed Scan saw that the baby is doing well, we saw the legs, the hands, the brain, the face, the organs - heart, kidney, and many more (it was a Form 5 Biology revision, cos Li Anne was calling all the parts by the scientific names ... ie .. that's the humerus, and that's the femur .. and i can't recall the rest!)

So Praise God that the baby is doing well, and nurturing well in Tiff's womb. Praise GOD!

She also managed to tell us the sex of the baby, via the scan.

Li Anne, took a bit of time showing a cross section
of the Heart on the above scan, cos the baby was moving lots!

It was on this Scan above, that Li Anne told us the sex of the baby.
So for all you Sonnographers wannabe, check out the Scan Above, and let us
know what YOU think?

Is the baby a Boy? or a Girl? :)

Tiff is 23 Weeks OR 5 Months 3 Weeks Pregnant

Update from inside the Womb

Your baby now weighs a little over one pound/ 500 grams and measures about 11.4 inches/ 29 centimetres from crown to heel.

Her hearing is well established and she can make out a distorted version of your voice, the beating of your heart and your stomach rumblings. Loud noises often heard in utero, such as the barking of a dog next door or the roar of a vacuum cleaner, probably won't bother your child when she hears them outside the womb.

Numerous studies seem to indicate that the unborn prefer classical music, especially Vivaldi. Play The Four Seasons for your child and pay attention to her movements. Does she quieten down during adagio sections and speed up for the allegro portions? You may have a budding conductor in your womb.

In addition to advances in your baby's hearing, her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing. She's swallowing but usually won't pass stool until after birth.

If your baby were to be born now, she would have a good chance of survival (about 85 per cent) with the right care. Advances in science and technology now mean that a 24-week-old baby can grow outside the womb if necessary.

Tiff is 22 Weeks OR 5 Months 2 Weeks Pregnant

Update from inside the Womb

The baby now weighs almost one pound / 430 grams, measures nearly 11 inches/ just over 27 centimetres long from crown to heel.

And is proportioned like a newborn, albeit a thinner version since her baby fat hasn't yet developed.

Although she's getting heavier every day, her skin still appears wrinkled because she needs to gain more weight.

The lips are distinct and the eyes are formed, though the iris (the coloured part of the eye) still lacks pigment.

The pancreas, essential in the production of hormones, is developing steadily.

Tiff is 20 Weeks Pregnant / 5 Months Pregnant already!

Wow .... time has really passed fast. Tiffany is already 5 months pregnant. Tiff says that there are more movement in the womb when the baby tends to move alot. Our focus during this pregnancy has been a lot on Nathanael .... so the pregnancy time seem to be whizzing past. Cos there's so many changes in Nathanael's daily preparation ... from the new diet to his improvements. So continue to keep the baby and Tiff in prayer.

Update from inside the Womb

Your baby measures about 6.5 inches/ 16.5 centimetres from crown to rump and is steadily gaining weight.

A whitish coat of a slick, fatty substance called vernix caseosa begins to cover your baby and protects the skin during its long immersion in amniotic fluid. It also eases delivery.

The baby's swallowing more this week, good practice for the digestive system. After your baby takes in amniotic fluid, his body absorbs the water in the liquid and moves the rest into the large bowel.

Baby is 19 weeks old -- We're half way there !!!

Update from inside the Womb

The fetus measures around 6 inches/ 15 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs about 9 ounces/ 240 grams.

She has started to swallow amniotic fluid, and her kidneys continue to make urine. Hair on the scalp is sprouting.

Sensory development reaches its peak this week. The nerve cells serving each of the senses -- taste, smell, hearing, seeing, and touch -- are now developing in their specialised areas of the brain.

Nerve cell production slows down as existing nerve cells grow larger and make more complex connections.

If the fetus is a baby girl, she already has roughly six million eggs in her ovaries. By the time she's born, she'll have about one million.

Baby is 17 weeks old & heartbeat is pumping

Your baby is now nearly 5.5 inches/ 13 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs approximately 5 ounces/ 140 grams.

Her skeleton is mostly rubbery cartilage, which will harden later. A protective substance called myelin slowly begins to wrap around the spinal cord.

With the help of a special stethoscope, you can now hear your baby's heartbeat. There's almost nothing more comforting or exciting than hearing your baby's heartbeat galloping along.

Baby is 16 weeks old & discovered his first toy -- the umbilical cord

Update from inside the Womb

Your baby is now about the size of an avocado (about 5 inches / 11.6 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighing approximately 4 ounces / 100 grams). In the next three weeks he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, doubling his weight and adding inches to his length.

In or out of the womb, babies are playful creatures. Yours may already have discovered his first toy -- the umbilical cord -- which he'll enjoy pulling and grabbing. Sometimes he may even clutch it so tight that less oxygen gets through, but don't worry -- he doesn't hold onto it long enough to harm himself. The circulatory system and urinary tract are in full working order, and he's inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid through his lungs.

Sometimes, when you move suddenly, you may a feel a slight pain in your sides. Ligaments on each side of your uterus and pelvic walls are stretching as your baby grows.

Baby is 15 Weeks Old - Baby doing back flips

Update from inside the Womb

You may not know it when it happens, but your tiny tenant frequently gets the hiccups, which babies master before breathing. Babies don't make any sound because their trachea is filled with fluid rather than air.

Although you've probably gained between 5 and 10 pounds / 2.2 - 4.5 kilograms, the fetus weighs in at around only 2.5 ounces / 70 grams. It measures nearly 4 inches / 11 centimetres long, crown to rump.

Legs are growing longer than the arms now, fingernails are fully formed and all the joints and limbs can move.

You may be able to find out the sex of your baby by ultrasound now, since the external genitals may be developed enough that the ultrasound technician can tell you if you're going to have a boy or a girl.

If the idea of having a baby seems so remote, nothing makes it feel more real than feeling your baby move for the first time. Most mums-to-be discern movement (called quickening) between 16 and 20 weeks. If you've been pregnant before, you'll feel things earlier rather than later. What you may first think is a rumbling stomach may be your baby doing some back flips. :)

Baby is 14 Weeks Old

womb Update from inside the Womb

Our baby is now growing his first hairs. Whether they're jet black, cocoa brown, golden blonde or fiery red, curly or straight, will remain a secret until the day he's born. Of course, family genes offer some clues, but many parents have been surprised at delivery.

Fine body hair called lanugo, which usually disappears later in pregnancy, blankets his body now, too.

Crown to rump, our baby is around 3 and a half inches / 9 centimetres long and weighs one and a half ounces / 43 grams. The body is now growing faster than the head.

This week, its parchment-thin skin covers itself with lanugo (ultra-fine, downy hair that usually disappears before birth). Though eyebrows are beginning to grow and the hair on top of the head is sprouting, this hair may change in both texture and colour after birth.

About now, the fetus can grasp, squint, frown, and grimace. It may even be able to suck its thumb. Researchers believe these and other movements probably correspond to the development of impulses in the brain.

Nathanael is gonna be a Ko Ko (Big Brother)

We've got exciting news for you all! Praise God for his grace & mercy.
Tiff is pregnant!!! The baby in Tiff's womb is now 3 months and 2 weeks old.
From all the doctor's visits thus far, baby is doing well and with a strong heart beat.

Expected due date will be 1 March 2007. So we ask that you pray along with us, especially for mummy Tiff as she carries our second child and continue to take care of Nathanael - and bringing him for all his therapy classes, early intervention school and hospital visits.

And the million dollar question that all of u keep asking us continually. Wow, how do u guys do it? We were discussing this last nite, and we feel that, if you are in a similar circumstance, with God, we believe u will also rise up the the situation and do all you can for your child. Its all thru God's strength and our Hope that is in Him!!

Even as i am typing this, a very appropriate song is playing the Background. Make Me Glad from Hillsong's Blessed Album.

The chorus of the song says this:
. . . You are my Shield, my Strength
My portion, Deliverer
My Shelter, Strong Tower
My very present help in time of need . . .

And true enough God is our shield, our strength, our portion, our deliverer, our shelter, our strong tower .. and our constant help in all our needs. So continue with pray with us, we covet your prayers for the family, finances, the future and God's favor in our lives!

YAY!! Tiffany is Pregnant and Nathanael is gonna be a Ko Ko! :)
